Friday’s Lotto Max jackpot remains at $50 million, no lucky winner for 11-11-11 draw

The day 11-11-11 proved not to be a lucky day for Lotto Max player as nobody won the $50 million jackpot last Friday.

Although many players believed that the date is mystical and that it is a day of luck, the jackpot worth $50 million was not won by any player. In addition, the two MaxMillions prizes worth a million dollar each were not won.

When some lottery players were asked what they would do with the windfall when they won the Lotto Max jackpot, here are some of the responses:

A man at Yonge and Bloor told that he would probably go on vacation and travel the world. A woman, however, said that she would spend the money less on traditional purposes.

"I would probably not invest it in material things. I'd like to empower women. I'd do some sort of program or house for women," she said to an interview with 680News.

A certain Eddie at Yonge and Bloor prefers to purchase a bigger house for himself, a cottage and an Ashton Martin. He also plans to be responsible with his windfall.

"I'd try to obviously spend it wisely, I don't want to be one of those guys you hear about in the news that they blew their money in like a year and now they're broke," Eddie told.
Majority of people said that they would want to take care of their family first, but a man said he would not be able to make the life of his children luxurious.

"I will be a simple person always and my kids will always have the same allowance they have," told Ravi.

When the big question was asked whether you would stay at your job or not if you won the jackpot, a woman told that she would a copy of her winning ticket to work from a beach in Greece.

A resident of Mississauga, Ontario wins $5 Million Lotto Max jackpot

Steven Bishop was one of the two jackpot winners of the May 27, 2011 Lotto Max draw. He now has the opportunity to live his dreams to the max! He matched all of the seven numbers for the $10 million jackpot together with another winner from Peterborough, Ontario.

“I can’t wait to start helping my family,” remarked Bishop as he claimed his prize at OLG Toronto Prize Centre.

Bishop currently works as computer programmer. He discovered that he won in the lottery game while he was enjoying sipping his coffee and surfing the internet at a local coffee shop.

He added: “I checked OLG.ca on my iPad and I was stunned when I saw I had matching numbers. I couldn’t say anything out loud though, because I was in a busy coffee shop and didn’t want anyone to hear. I went right to a convenience store to check my ticket on the self-scanner, to confirm!”

Bishop, 53 years old, said he is a weekly Lotto Max player. This is his biggest win to date.

“I’m going to really work on helping my family out. I’ve been pretty lucky, as a small business owner, but now I can really help the people in my life that need it!” he exclaimed joyfully. Visit Lotterycanada.com to see the latest Lotto Max results today!

Saskatchewan couple wins $40 million in the Lotto Max

Word is out that a lucky couple from Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan have hit the staggering jackpot of $40 million in the Lotto Max lottery.

Carolyn Sloan, owner of the Smokin’ Lens Hotel, told that the older couple purchased the ticket at a Fas Gas Station in Lloydminster, which is about 65 kilometers away. Paradise Hill has about 500 residents.

Sloan said that the couple is shocked at winning the big amount of money. She added that the couple went to her watering hole to celebrate their winning after they had come from validating their winning ticket on Saturday. The draw was held Friday night.

Sloan, however, was quick to say that she would not identify the couple. She commented that they have lived in the village for “a little while.” She also was not aware of what the couple would intend to do with the money.

Andrea Marantz, spokesperson for the Western Canadian Lottery Corporation, states that “a claim has been made” on the winnings and that the claim is going through the usual process. The winners will be officially announced by WCLC as soon as they are validated, she said. The verification process can take days, and other times, even months.

Sloan disclosed that the couple have children and grandchildren with whom they can share their fortune. She was quoted saying that “everybody here is pretty happy for them. It’s nice to know that you can win. Everybody probably buys tickets, but most of those winning tickets go to Quebec or Ontario, and this time we got one right on our doorstep, so it’s pretty exciting for them.”

The couple also won $20 on a second ticket.

Paradise Hill, where the winners come from, is approximately 285 kilometers northwest of Saskatoon. If the couple really won $40 million, it would be the biggest lotto win yet in the province.

The record for Saskatchewan was set in June 2010 when Clarence and Delores Durocher of Ile-a-la-Crosse won $25 million in the Lotto Max lottery. The couple split the $50-million prize with another winner from Newfoundland.

Interestingly, the Victoria Hospital Foundation in Prince Albert also told Wednesday that one of their weekly bingo players has won $10,000. Helen Huck, the winner, was reported to have only missed out a week of the charitable bingo since it started in February 2009. The money generated from the lottery is used in the procurement of medical equipment for the Victoria Regional Hospital.

Lotto Max is the most popular lottery game among Canadian bettors. In fact it has the most sold tickets in the country. It replaced Lotto Super 7 in September 2009, a national lottery game and another popular lotto game that existed for 15 years. The lottery has made its biggest jackpot at $50,000,000.00 in November of the year it replaced Lotto Super 7.

This lottery game is managed by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, or commonly known as ILC. The organization also manages the Lotto 6/49, another popular national lottery game. The organization is based in Toronto and is comprised of five commissions that manage lotteries across Canada. The most popular games ILC manages today include Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49 and Millionaire Life Game.

The Lotto Max is a traditional lottery game which offers 3 ways to win the jackpot. It draws seven numbers from a pool of 49 numbers once a week, on Friday. The minimum jackpot a bettor can take away amounts to $10,000,000.

Another extra lottery feature is called Max Millions, a unique game wherein a bettor should match 7 numbers to win a million when the jackpot reaching the sum of 50 million has been reached and extra money rolled over has to be divided amongst the winners.

How to Play

As stated above, you get to match all seven numbers drawn from a pool of 49 numbers in order to win the jackpot prize. An eight number, or the bonus number, is also drawn. There are other six chances of winning in the lottery – 6 major numbers and the bonus number, six major numbers, 5 major numbers, 4 major numbers and 3 major numbers and the bonus number and 3 major numbers.

A quick pick facility is also used if you do not want to choose your own lottery numbers. The machine can do that for you. Non-Canadian players can also play Lotto Max through virtual lottery shops.
