Vancouver International Airport guard wins $1.5 million

A security guard at the Vancouver International Airport has the biggest shock of his life after winning $1.5 million on his Lotto 6/49 ticket.

Jalil Khan, a resident of Surrey, B.C. matched all six Lotto 6/49winning numbers on the October 15 Bonus draw to win the jackpot prize.

Khan said in laughter “I was speechless as I checked the ticket on my break at work. I told my boss I had to go home. I sat in my car checking the validation slip repeatedly. When I got home I did my very best to remain calm and tell my wife.”

For Lotto 6/49 during the month of October, every draw includes a bonus for an annuity prize. The winner has the prerogative to get $100,000 per year for the rest of their life, or opt for a one-time payment of $1.5 million.

Khan narrated “After much thought and talking it over with my wife and financial advisor, we decided on the $1.5 million. It was such an exciting decision to have to make.”

Khan bought the winning Lotto 6/4 ticket in Richmond, B.C. at the Lottery Ticket Centre in the departure area of YVR.

Khan said that he would want to embark on a nice vacation, pay off all his debts and save money for the education of his children.

Lottery players who buy a Lotto 6/4 ticket automatically qualify for the bonus draw.
